Spring has arrived to the northern hemisphere. This is a perfect time to let go of the old and make space for the new. Why not make a spring cleanse of your home and sell or donate that stuff you don’t use anymore? If you’re lucky you might even earn some money on the way.
How to make the change
Go through your home one room at the time and clear out things you don’t use. Start with the kitchen and move on the closet and kid’s room for example. Ask yourself: “When did I use this lately?” and “Would I buy this item today?”. Sell the items online or donate them to a local thrift shop. In some cities there are facebookgroups where you can donate things that might not be suitable for a thrift shop.
Why make the change?
Your trash might be someone else’s fortune. Buying vintage stuff uses way less resources than buying new things. You are simply helping others not to use more resources than necessary. There is a lot of stuff on this planet already. Do we really need that many new things? And if you donate your things to a charity shop you are supporting a good cause at the same time. Win-win.
Be a climate ninja
Organize a flea market in your neighborhood to encourage others to go through their old stuff. Or you can even host a charity-event where people can donate stuff or clothes that gets sold to support a good cause, like protecting rainforests for example.
